| Co-blog with me! |
[Oct. 19th, 2008|07:00 pm] |
My friends,
I have officially launched my new (non-eljay) blog: Justin Plus One!
The blog's conceit is simple: I blog every week with a changing co-blogger. The topics can (and will) be anything. Nothing is off-limits. All is fair in love and blogs.
Where do you come in? Simple! I want co-bloggers! And I know that my eljay buds are nothing if not interesting, exciting and cool peeps who would make an excellent co-blogging addition to Justin Plus One.
Interested? Just leave a comment and I'll follow up with you directly!

| Live from Strasbourg, It's My Cousin Lauren! |
[Sep. 19th, 2008|01:21 pm] |
My cousin Lauren is studying smack in the middle of Germany and France - at Strasbourg. God bless the girl, she takes after her cousin and has started a blog.
Baguette Me Not
Surely her adventures in another country will have nothing on my 9-9 workaday borezo life... right? And what brilliant word play!
Check her out. And tell her Justin says hi. |

| My Brother's New Video |
[Aug. 29th, 2008|02:21 pm] |
Fuck VPs and McCain's Bday. Even better news: My brother's PSA is up and running!
He shot it on July 17th in DC. An anti-steroid PSA, this will run during all NCAA games all year long. Check it out right here.
My brother plays a troubled athlete AND his evil conscience. And he flexes his guns, too.
Enjoy!

| 550 dollar makeover |
[Aug. 20th, 2008|12:59 pm] |
First off, a HUGE thank you to jj79 for a great time and dinner last night. After all these years of livejournal friendship, I had an awesome time with ya!
And now, onto the story:
After Paul hit the high road (or low road, depending on your opinion) he basically packed up the entire studio and took it with him. He had bought all of the decorative elements of our apartment. I remember coming back to the place the night after he had moved out and there was almost an echo there.
Since then, I have treated my place as a sleeping/tv ground. I never bothered to redecorate, kept the barren walls and trounced on carpets (including a runner that Jeremy once burned a hole through with a hot casserole dish (it was paul's by the way, i no longer have a casserole dish). I let dust accumulate. Spent my days and nights out, coming home only to hit the bed and pass out.
But, as the weather grows colder, I feel like my slutty summer bug has gone away. I want to nest. Spend more nights in writing, or watching tv, or with friends playing video games. My money is improving, and my liver is regaining health.
What with all this recent homebodying, this weekend, suddenly, I needed to decorate. I pulled 550 out of my NEVER TOUCH ING account and went on 4 trips to Bed, Bath and Beyond. There I bought a plethora of things including:
New carpet Duvet Shams Bed skirt Throw covers and pillows Shelf/Lamp Bathroom and Kitchen Rug Shower curtain
With Kristin we manipulated the entire place. And I drew all the inspiration from a picture on my wall. Mom and my Aunt Zuzu brought it over the weekend after Paul peaced out. A key to my leaving him was what my aunt had said the week before at a Weight Watchers meeting.
She said "cast a pebble into water, and the ripples affect everything". That all you have to do to make a change in your life is cast a pebble.
So the photo on the wall, of a pebble upsetting a tranquil lake is the reason for all the blue in the studio. I am going for blues and browns - water and earth. Fluid yet solid.
I love it.
Beneath the cut are photos, and an old video tour of my apartment I once posted here many moons ago. Check it out. Oh, and the Christmas lights are now down, too.

| So cute |
[Aug. 19th, 2008|05:00 pm] |
A client of mine uses an emarketing tool called ListBox. I was trying to figure out how to use the technology, and stumbled upon their case study section. In the area for "personal/family" is this photo.
I think it's so cute! It's cuter than that kitty in the "hang in there!" posters.

Some day I want to gaze upon something with such elation and amazement. But I'm cynical enough to worry that nothing will ever elicit such a response.
